4x4 Island Tour Beach 7H Boa Vista

SERVICE DESCRIPTION

This tour is for true lovers of the sea and beaches, but everyone will be left speechless when they see two of Boa Vista's World Heritage jewels. Departing from Sal Rei, the island's capital, we head south to the island's first human settlement, as the name suggests: Povaçao Velha! Just a quick glance to see the invisible tracks leading to the magnificent Praia Varandinha, an unspoilt beach of clean, fine, white sand, overlooked by a rocky ridge full of birds and natural grottos, once a shelter for boats at low tide. After the obligatory photos in the grottoes and a nice swim in the crystal clear water (watch out for the waves), we climb back into the pickup to face the dunes that border the salt flats, the gateway to the most beautiful and famous beach in West Africa: Santa Monica. The name is now used for the 22 uninterrupted kilometres of very clear and intense sand, where thousands of ghost crabs scamper about, chased by birds. In summer, these beaches are full of turtles that have been coming here to nest for thousands of years. A long stop for everyone to enjoy this wonder of nature... walking, swimming (very carefully as it is open sea with strong currents) or just sitting and contemplating something never seen before.
As our stomachs begin to growl, we return to Povaçao for a quick tour of the typical village and a stop at Fon Banana for some local specialities. Time to really get back on the road; we get back in the pickup to admire more beaches, but this time over the dunes. On the way back you will pass the dunes of Chavéz, with a short stop to build a Little Man of Return... what it is you will find out on the way!
