4x4 Island Tour Beaches Boa Vista

SERVICE DESCRIPTION

This tour is for lovers of the sea and beaches, but everyone will be left speechless when they see two of Boa Vista's World Heritage jewels. 
 
Departing from Sal Rei, the island's capital, we head south to the island's first human settlement, as the name suggests: Povaçao Velha! A short tour to see a real Cape Verdean village, where most of the houses are built in the pure Criolo style: a single storey with a quintal inside to take in the air in the rooms that never look out. We set off to visit the marvellous Praia Varandinha, an unspoilt beach of clean, fine, white sand, overlooked by a rocky ridge full of birds and natural grottos, once a shelter for boats at low tide.
After taking the obligatory photos in the caves, we climb back into the pickup and head towards the dunes that border the salt flats, the gateway to the most beautiful and famous beach in West Africa: Santa Monica. The name is now used for the 22 uninterrupted kilometres of clear, untouched sand where thousands of ghost crabs scurry about, followed by birds. In summer, these beaches are filled with turtles that have been coming here to nest for thousands of years. A long stop to allow everyone to enjoy this wonder of nature... walking, swimming (very carefully as it is open sea with strong currents) or just sitting and contemplating something never seen before.
Time to set off again to admire more beaches, but this time over the dunes. On the way back you will pass the dunes of Chavéz, with a short stop to build a Little Man of Return... which you will only discover on the trip!

Visit to the cave.
10.45 Departure for Santa Monica, arrival approx. 11/11.15.
45 minutes to enjoy the beautiful beach.
12.00 Departure for the return journey over the dunes with a stop to admire the
Praia de Chavéz from above and walk on the dunes (approx. 30 minutes).
